"Dreadlocks are organic” and “African Locks are cultivated"....ps i have African Locks

There has always been a confusion between Locks and Dreadlocks, people often label any type of dreadlocks as automatically being dreadlocks and i admit i used to do the same as well but here i plan on explaining the big difference.

They are BOTH a NATURAL form of Hair and are BOTH Chemical-Free!

Dreadlocks are when you let your hair matte and knot by themselves and naturally they will start to lock and it gives it that rough look that a lot of people tend to go for.

like this famous person

Dreadlocks received their name by European settlers when they came to the "new world" and they had witnessed people with their hair locked and matted so they referred to it as a Dreaded hairstyle and now it has become the term for the hairstyle....i know a lot of people with Deadlocks and i don't find the locks ugly and you still have to take care of them, people always think that you start them and never wash em um.....NOOO!!!!! that would end causing all sorts of problems, you HAVE to wash em, with a special shampoo though and you have to cover your hair at night just like any other hairstyle. I think it looks cool when Caucasians do it.

African Locks/ Nubian Locks/ Locks...or any of every other term but dread
African locks are cultivated, that means that they have to be carefully started and have to take measures to make sure that each of the locks is the same size and that the partings are the same size and shape as well....The Africans like the early tribes of Tanzania first started this process and a ceremonial event where a group of women and men witnessed and took part in starting a persons Locks and was a form of unity and they had practiced what  in my opinion think is one of the best ways to bond with your mate is that, a husband and wife would sit between each others legs would re-twist each others hair and each apply their favorite oils and scents and decorations on their spouses locks. You can't have JUST ANYBODY start your locks, they have to LOVE what they do and it will show in your hair, and same with whoever re-twists them and that love will continually be shown in your hair.

Meaning Behind the URL

Nubian refers to the Kingdom of Nubia which was dated before Egypt and was dominant and was the first real African Kingdom of that era.....the kingdom took up modern day Egypt and the whole Eastern side of Africa.......Reason why i have chosen it is because I am a proud Haitian American, and we derive from Africa before we were brought to the "New World" thanks to the root of all evil on this planet....Money, pretty much every one deemed as "black" or "African American" has roots that date back to Africa, the Motherland and where Humankind Started period and Nubia is the first Afrocentric Kingdom that existed with their natural beauty and all............

Athlete of God....well I happen to be a follower of the works of Albert Einstein and he was a smart man, as many of people know, actually let me rephrase, he was a very intelligent man, big difference. He was also a believer of God and his theories always went back to the creator Hisself, but now'a days they will discredit any works of his that happen to proclaim a God, but not I, I am a proud christian...Seventh-Day Adventist to be Exact and i'll always proclaim His name, But I also happen to be a Dancer!, a Professional one, A serious ONE!, and Albert Einstein once said that DANCERS ARE THE ATHLETES OF GOD!, and that was just like :-O to me, A TRIPLE WHAMMY!!!!!, GOD, ALBERT EINSTEIN, AND DANCE!!! lol well that's the origin of the Page right there......NUBIAN ATHLETE OF GOD.

My FIRST! blog EVER!!!

WHY did  go down this path to make a blog?, well to inform as many people as possible about going natural, now when people hear natural they often joke or they are serious when they say you cant shave....Anything.....I tend to avoid girls that say that... that's your business, THAT'S CALLED GROOMING!, we are supposed to groom, don't even wanna think about what hasn't been done in years, but going natural is realizing that your body is perfect the way it is and the way it came out the womb, Ladies YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!, i don't need my women with weave, make-up, jewelry, or any of the sort and ESPECIALLY PERM :-/......I decided to go natural back in 09' and i stopped adding chemicals to my hair and it was hard because i locked my hair that same year and i took it out
before the middle locked and my hair was never the same again......it became very hard to manage and i never wanted to cut it and start over again so i would get a lot of negative comments about it, but it was full and healthy, and sometimes i would do things to it like cornrows but that was few and the other times i would have my beanies on that i wear all through out the year but i didn't mind it and i took care of it but its time for a NEW JOURNEY....one that i started July 5th, 2011....and this blog will be responsible for following my Journey of my Nubian Locks.
