They are BOTH a NATURAL form of Hair and are BOTH
Dreadlocks are when you let your hair matte and knot by themselves and naturally they will start to lock and it gives it that rough look that a lot of people tend to go for.
like this famous person
Dreadlocks received their name by European settlers when they came to the "new world" and they had witnessed people with their hair locked and matted so they referred to it as a Dreaded hairstyle and now it has become the term for the hairstyle....i know a lot of people with Deadlocks and i don't find the locks

African Locks/ Nubian Locks/ Locks...or any of every other term but dread
African locks are cultivated, that means that they have to be carefully started and have to take measures to make sure that each of the locks is the same size and that the partings are the same size and shape as well....The Africans like the early tribes of Tanzania first started this process and a ceremonial event where a group of women and men witnessed and took part in starting a persons Locks and was a form of unity and they had practiced what in my opinion think is one of the best ways to bond with your mate is that, a husband and wife would sit between each others legs would re-twist each others hair and each apply their favorite oils and scents and decorations on their spouses locks. You can't have JUST ANYBODY start your locks, they have to LOVE what they do and it will show in your hair, and same with whoever re-twists them and that love will continually be shown in your hair.
